Your first steps in SkyBlock — what to do first, gear to aim for, and mistakes to avoid.

Where to Start

When you create a new SkyBlock profile, your goal is simple: generate coins, level skills, and buy better gear. Don't try to do everything at once — pick one lane and push it.

First thing to do

Open your SkyBlock Menu (click the icon in your hotbar), then go to Your Skills. Every XP you earn levels skills that give permanent stat bonuses — this is your foundation.

Essential First Steps

Complete the tutorial quests — they give free gear, coins, and SkyBlock XP.
Buy a Rookie Hoe or basic sword from the Hub NPCs to start farming/fighting.
Talk to every NPC in the Hub to unlock new areas, quests, and shops.
Start grinding one skill — Combat, Farming, or Mining. All give useful early bonuses.
Collect Fairy Souls — they permanently boost your stats. Grab as many as you can.

Fairy Souls are free stats

There are 227 Fairy Souls hidden across all SkyBlock islands. Trading pairs of them to Tia the Fairy gives permanent HP, Defense, Strength, and Speed. Start collecting early — it costs nothing.

Don't rush to expensive gear

Many early players spend their first 5M coins on gear they can't use effectively. Focus on skills first — Skill Average 20+ makes every piece of gear more effective.

How to Get Your First Coins

Method 1 — Farming (easiest)

Buy seeds from the Farm Merchant in the Hub
Plant and harvest on your Private Island
Sell to the Bazaar or NPC traders
Aim for: 100k–300k coins/hr to start

Method 2 — Mining

Head to the Gold Mine (portal in Hub)
Mine Coal, Iron, Gold, and sell on Bazaar
Upgrade to Deep Caverns when possible
Aim for: 100k–500k coins/hr

Method 3 — Combat (Spider's Den / Crimson Isle)

Kill spiders and sell String/Tarantula Web
Requires basic combat gear first
Aim for: 200k–500k coins/hr

SkyBlock Levels (SB XP)

SkyBlock Levels (shown as ✪ next to your name) are earned by completing milestones, quests, and achievements. Higher SB levels unlock:

Better minion slots
Access to some areas
Cosmetic perks

Your first goal: Reach SkyBlock Level 10 — this unlocks full minion functionality.

Minions — Your Passive Income

Minions are small automated workers on your Private Island. They generate resources while you're offline.

Unlock more minion slots

You start with 5 minion slots. Each unique minion crafted (across all profiles) increases your global slot cap. Craft cheap T1 minions of different types to quickly unlock more slots.

Common Early Game Mistakes

Buying gear you can't use — check requirements before spending.
Ignoring Enchanting — even cheap enchants double your damage output.
Hoarding everything — sell what you don't need; liquid coins let you upgrade faster.
Not using the Bazaar — it's almost always better than selling to NPCs (check first).
Skipping Fairy Souls — free stats, always worth collecting.
