How Slayers Work

Slayers are quest-based boss encounters. You:

  1. Talk to Maddox the Slayer (or slayer NPC in the relevant area) to accept a quest.
  2. Kill mobs of the matching type to fill the quest XP bar.
  3. When the bar fills, your personal slayer boss spawns — only you (and party) can see and damage it.
  4. Kill the boss within the time limit to complete the quest.
  5. Completing quests earns Slayer XP toward that slayer's level (1–9).

Higher slayer levels unlock better drops, crafting recipes, and permanent stat bonuses.

Only you can damage your boss

Each player's slayer boss is personal — other players can't steal your boss, but they also can't help kill it (unless you're in the same party). Make sure your gear is strong enough before going up a tier.

Slayer Level Requirements

Each slayer has 9 levels. XP accumulates across all kills of that type.

LevelXP Required (cumulative)Rank

Boss Tiers

Each slayer type has 4 boss tiers (T1–T4). Higher tiers:

  • Give more Slayer XP per kill
  • Drop rarer items
  • Cost more coins to start (the quest fee)
  • Require your slayer level to be high enough to unlock
TierSlayer XP GivenApprox. Quest CostReq. Slayer Level
T15100–500 coinsNone
T2252,000 coinsLevel 1
T3100–20010,000 coinsLevel 2–3
T4400–50050,000 coinsLevel 3–4

Run T3 until you can reliably kill T4

T4 gives 4–5× the XP of T3 but costs ~5× more. If your T4 kill time is very long (3+ min), the T3 rate is often better. Once you one-shot or two-shot T4, switch.

Recommended Progression Order

  1. Zombie T2–T4 — cheapest, no special gear needed, great starter XP
  2. Spider T1–T3 — drops Tarantula Boots which are essential mid-game combat boots
  3. Wolf T1–T3 — drops Overflux (useful accessory) and Hamster Wheel
  4. Enderman T1–T4 — drops Etherwarp (mobility) and Enderman Sword
  5. Blaze T1–T4 — best in Crimson Isle, requires decent combat gear
  6. Vampire — unique mechanic (see below)

Vampire Slayer — Different Mechanics

The Vampire Slayer works differently from the others:

  • Vampires are found in the Vampiric Mine in the Rift dimension (requires Rift access).
  • The boss is the Riftstalker Bloodfiend.
  • Uses Motes (Rift currency) instead of regular coins for the quest fee.
  • Drops Vampire Fang (accessory) and other Rift-specific items.

Vampire requires Rift access

You must unlock the Rift dimension before doing Vampire Slayer. The Rift is a mid-to-late game area unlocked via a special quest chain.

RNG Meter

The RNG Meter (unlocked at Slayer Level 3 for each type) lets you trade 10,000 kills worth of RNG into a guaranteed rare drop. It fills passively as you do slayer bosses and can be targeted to specific drops.

Set your RNG meter target early

Decide which rare drop you want before you hit Level 3 and set the target immediately. The meter fills whether or not you have a target set — you can't retroactively claim filled meter for unset targets.
